Seat height: define the compression problem
A cushioned or flexible mesh seat changes under load, so your unloaded tape measurement may not equal the manufacturer’s standardized value or the occupied working height. Seat depth: find the usable support line

A specification sheet’s overall depth may describe the upright chair. Your room needs the chair’s operating envelope:
- Measure the caster-base footprint.
- Measure front-to-back depth in the upright work position.
- Measure the maximum permitted reclined position without sitting in an unsafe or unstable chair.
